Mirace of the Week – Bowed not Broken, by Dr Judy Hinwood
Selecting a suitable card to send was proving to be a big job for the elderly man. He was struggling on a walker, and had difficulty speaking, I presumed after a stroke.
It saddened me to see him covering his crooked mouth as he strained to control his out-of-balance body, and the grimace that was his best attempt at a smile.
All I could do was maintain eye contact, smile and keep up a conversation – his mental and physical struggles were profound.
And of course, give him my “business card” – an “Expect a Miracle” card. Then, he really chuckled. Lovely.
