A miracle occurred in my practice. A number of years ago a man came to see me who had worn a hearing aid since he was a child. He reported to me that his father had also worn a hearing aid. His daughter also wore a hearing aid and demonstrated continuing hearing loss through her middle school years.

I started adjusting the daughter and her hearing began to come back. At the same time, one of my office staff’s children (a boy) had come in and was also hearing impaired.

After a period of time, both these children began to get their hearing back. They had the same audiologist and the audiologist was interested that these two children had improvement in their hearing tests.

The young lady to this day, does not wear a hearing aid. The young man still does. The father and the daughter both presumed that they would have hearing aids and the daughter because she was third generation of hearing loss, presumed that she would probably pass the same problem onto her children.

The miracle was that chiropractic had the effect of changing the hearing loss, and returning a state of hearing for these individuals.

This miracle story was written and submitted by Noel Patterson of Perth, Western Australia.

Thanks Noel!

Having being in chiropractic practise for 30 years I think I have just about experienced every type of patient that you would expect to see in a normal busy practise. The story I’m going to tell you now is quite unique in that it is the only time which this has happened to me.

One day I went in to consult a new patient and I asked him how I could help him. He replied to me straightforwardly I only have five days to live and I was wondering if you could help me with that’. Obviously this took me back a little bit and he explained to me then that he had terminal cancer, had already done the chemotherapy and radiotherapy to no avail and his doctor had told him the day before to go home and get his affairs in order, as he probably only had five days approximately to live.

As we progressed further into the consultation and then into the examination the thing that struck me about this gentleman was he made a comment, which I thought was absolutely imperative if we were to have any chance with him. He said he did not accept the doctor’s verdict and in fact he set a goal that he would go to the doctor’s own funeral. He did not say this maliciously but he was very strong in his own mind and had now set this goal and honestly thought that he could keep it.

The shortness of the five days to make a difference was not my major fear as I have been dealing with top Australian athletes for 30 years. When I am away with the Olympic and Commonwealth Games team I would often have one or two days to make a significant impact with a sports person. However this wasn’t about winning a gold medal, this was about being able to live.

Because of this strong comment I took him on as a patient and even though we changed his diet dramatically and he immediately started chiropractic care I can honestly say that I was not 100% positive about his prognosis. To this very day I still do not know what made the changes in this gentleman and I’m happy to say that he not only survived that five days but when he came in to see me last week it is now 25 years since his initial consultation. It certainly shows the power of positive thinking and there is no doubt that he expected and received that miracle.

A Miracle of Attitude

I was lucky enough to come across Expect A Miracle a few years ago. I carry an Expect A Miracle card in my purse all the time.

I have had a prescriptive substance abuse addiction for the past 15 years. Recently I was told my liver may shutdown and I could die. I was added to a waiting list for a detox clinic but was told it could take two weeks to be admitted. I am not the most person and did not find this acceptable. I made the decision I would try and overcome this myself. I have a wonderful family and a great professional support network but they could not be around me all day, everyday.

I was in the supermarket the day after I received this information and I looked at my Expect A Miracle card. My mind started to think. When I got home I printed out some Expect A Miracle cards. I pinned them on the walls around the house and put one in my car. Whenever I felt I was going to slip into bad habits again I only had to look around me and be reminded of John, Judy and my miracle.

It is never easy to overcome an addiction and it will stay with you for the rest of your life. But, with my Expect A Miracle card in purse it reminds me of the hard work and the determination I had to get through this hard time.

I am now on the way to a new, healthy life and I would like to thank John, Judy, my family and Expect A Miracle for helping me.
